I agree on the sentiment of not doing pop ups and the like. In a
shameful former life I was involved with developing such things -
they are a very hard sell, generate confusion and return very little
cash.

But as for naming the nodes: each node has to have a network id eg.
my ESSID is 15waterside. This id gets transmitted over wireless. This
gives a client a choice of which network (node) to join. My Mac OSX
simply connects to what it finds first and displays the ESSID, a pull
down menu is shown with alternative networks. ALso we need to
advertise the geography of our networks in maps. My suggestion was to
create this ESSID name as a reward for sponsorship.
