manchesterwireless will be holding a node-building workshop on the afternoon of
Saturday the 7th of August. It's not a massive event, but we'd like to extend
the invite to interested people on the Consume list.

Current 'plans' for workshops/talks:

1) Node building workshop
---- We are doing some work with Redbricks and Homes for Change in Hulme,
Manchester. We'll be using the workshop to put together the kit to link the two
buildings. Hopefully the experience will show everyone how easy it is to set up
a community access point.

2) Constructing/Calibrating a VSWR meter
---- The antenna hacking peeps at raylab.com are keen to test their homemade
VSWR meters, we can supply the kit to calibrate and test their handiwork.

3) 2.4GHz spanalyzer show & tell
----- Yes, we might have access to one of these babies!

4) Digging tunnels through the pennines
---- We are in the process of linking some of our access points to
Sheffield's community wireless network. We want to setup and test the links
during the workshop. Any other group that wants to do some tunnelling, please
get in touch...

5) Setup greatermanchesterwireless VPN
---- Of the nodes that we have, very few can see each other. We need to
link them together using tunnels to build a larger virtual network.

6) Some talks / status reports
----- Nothing fancy, nothing that should require an actual preparation or
notes, but it will be interesting to hear what is going on in various
sub-projects:

[General manchesterwireless status report]
[A status report from Warrington Wireless]
[Streaming a gig live on the wireless network using VideoLAN]
[Cooking ducks on Heaton park using 802.11b]
[Building a community wireless phone system with Asterisk]

And so on.

The meeting venue (Zion Arts Centre) is here:

If you fancy coming along please do - all levels of skill/age/knowledge will be
present. Hopefully some of the guys from Sheffield + London might pay us a
visit.... Anybody from Leeds, Nottingham or elsewhere want to join us?
