Would like to crack on with 19th July if possible.
Am up for a drink with those wireless people who care to turn up, but
would like to try hack things out over the list or in the irc.
I have a mac and pc laptop both with wireless adaptors. I have
ordered two yagis antenna. I was planning on using one in each
location as a gateway. Each venue having a different subnet and the
laptop as a router. I wanted to use ad-hoc because it is the lowest
common denominator. I have some thoughts on promiscous mode and using
two different network ids.
I have 1 desktop, no monitor, 2 pcmcia cards, 1 pcmcia converter. Can
get 4 or 5 pcs donated + monitors. Can get utp network cards if
desparate, for the pcs. I have one 5 way switch and I lent Simon a 4
way hub.
Basically I have a basline of being able to do something, I would
like to do much better though.
Gordon - what are you running ie hardware (CD / net card?)/software
op system. What anti virus have you used? The disk I gave you had
Stinger on it look at http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger for more info.
Everyone - the event is not so much corporate PR as a chance to get
our gear up and running. Hopefully we can make use of some side
effects like increased membership.
Robert
