This week's Engine Room meeting will be at St Michael's on Thursday -see
Tony's message below.
For those that aren't aware - the Engine Room is a group of 3-C members
looking to provide a combination of voluntary and paid technical support
to the 3-C community and beyond.
I won't be doing a blanket circulation in future, which may come as a
relief to some of you. If you want to be kept in the loop about
developments in the Engine Room, for interest or so that you can join in
future, please email to the above and we'll add you to the distribution
list.
Kind regards
Mark
---------------------------------------------------
Our next ER meeting and our first ER discussion will be held on Thursday
29th Jan, 1930 at St. Michael's Church in Mytholmroyd
It is envisaged that the topic for discussion will be the basic
operations of the kit we will install for broadband connections, an
overview of the installation process, along with 'what is broadband', an
overview of the technology and why it is so much better than the
currently available alternatives.
It is envisaged that when the web system is fully operational for
management of the ER, all communications will be to the ER distribution
list and not 3CTO, which may or may not remain as a general tech enquiry
forum. We need to streamline the process as much as possible, and make
the system as responsive and reactive as possible.
For those in our membership that do not yet have broadband, now is a
good time to contemplate the idea. This will allow an always on
connection, and allow us all to (almost) instantly respond to ER
questions and queries, and give us the ability to provide an excellent
turnaround time ( an I.T. 'SWAT' team!).
Finally, I would like to thank all those who have taken the time out to
come to one of our ER meetings. Through professional community action,
I believe we can make a difference.
Kind Regards
Tony Preston
